BIDDEFORD – Realizing that the pandemic has been particularly difficult for elderly residents of Biddeford who are homebound and isolated, Biddeford recreation staff at the Ross Center at the J. Richard Martin Community Center are preparing activity boxes for delivery to their home.

Each box will contain new items such as puzzles, word search books, playing cards, and other activities to help pass the time. Additionally, organizers said the recreation department is also sending a variety of individually wrapped treats to enjoy.

Biddeford Recreation Department has purchased enough supplies to fill 25 boxes and plans to begin delivery this week.

Staff said they would like to continue their efforts as there are many more elders to contact in the community. So they decided to spread the word and ask for donations.

They are looking for new puzzles, puzzles and books, individually wrapped snacks, playing cards, memory games for adults, colored pencils and markers, as well as new periodicals that may be of interest to the age group. .
